Your Next Netflix Binge Comes From This Creepy New Jersey Home

Have you ever felt like you were being watched?  Maybe you were alone and felt a presence.  Some would argue, a person from the other side is visiting you.

Not in a malicious or scary way, but a visit to watch over you.  If you’re lucky that visit with spark a smell, or create something in the room to move.  Okay, maybe a little scary.

You may or may not have heard about the story in Westfield NJ. 

Back in June of 2014, 3 days after Derek Broaddus and his wife Maria moved into their new home, they received a letter in the mail.  The letter was simply addressed with a handwritten message. It read, to “The New Owner”

The letter itself started out with a warm welcome...

"Dearest new neighbor at 657 Boulevard, allow me to welcome you to the neighborhood."

.  But as you can see, the message in the letter turned a dark corner…

“657 Boulevard has been the subject of my family for decades now and as it approaches its 110th birthday, I have been put in charge of watching and waiting for its second coming. My grandfather watched the house in the 1920s and my father watched in the 1960s. It is now my time. Do you know the history of the house? Do you know what lies within the walls of 657 Boulevard? Why are you here? I will find out.”

The person who penned this greeting referenced things about the Broaddus family and what renovations they were doing with their new home...

“I see already that you have flooded 657 Boulevard with contractors so that you can destroy the house as it was supposed to be,” the person wrote. “Tsk, tsk, tsk … bad move. You don’t want to make 657 Boulevard unhappy.”

This person also made mention of their kids...

“You have children. I have seen them. So far I think there are three that I have counted,”

Weird and scary right?

The letter ends but leaves the door open that there will be more…

“Welcome my friends, welcome. Let the party begin”

The author then signs the letter in an even more cryptic and freighting way…

 “The Watcher.”

5 years later the Broaddus family moved out.  They even took a financial loss.  The new owners have not received any similar anonymous greetings.  The identity of The Watcher has never been found.

Sounds like the perfect storyline for some binge-watching right?  Yup.

In fact, television producer Ryan Murphy is interested to create a series for Netflix.  Murphy was also involved in American Crime Story and American Horror Story, so this is right up his ally.
