Have you ever climbed to the top of Ole Barney?

Friends of Barnegat Lighthouse are hosting several 'night climbs' at Barnegat Lighthouse. The climbs start at 7 p.m. and wrap by about 9 p.m. It's suggested you arrive early as only a limited amount of people can make their way up at once.

If you time it right, you can take in an amazing sunset once you've climbed all 217 steps. At its peak, the lighthouse is 172 feet high. You'll even get a workout in. Win, win!

It's free to participate, but donations are welcome so they can keep the climbs going.

There really is no better way to get a good look at Long Beach Island than at the top of Barnegat Lighthouse.

The night climbs happen on the following Saturdays:

  • June 22
  • July 13
  • August 17
  • September 14
  • October 12
  • October 26
