6 Shelter Dogs That Need Dads For Father’s Day

Petey is an approximately 4-year-old terrier mix. He was originally found as a stray in Staten Island and briefly lived with a family in Freehold. He can be a little shy at first, but warms up quickly, and can be quite the ladies' man! He likes snuggling and pretending like he's a lap dog. He loves to play, especially with tennis balls, and knows many commands like 'sit,' 'stay,' and 'come.' He is okay with cats but may not get along with another dog.

Dixie is a very social 2-year-old terrier mix who will greet anyone who wants to be her friend. She does tend to get excited and jump on people, and she loves to play, especially with tennis balls! Dixie doesn't know her own size, and thinks she's a lap dog. She'd love to curl up on you if you'll let her! Dixie loves to go on long walks and is also well-behaved in the car. Dixie likes being the center of attention and needs to be the only pet in the home.

Brutis is a playful, 3 1/2 year old Hound mix who loves car rides and walks in the park. He can be a little shy at first, but is very affectionate once he gets to know you. He loves to be pet and will give plenty of kisses in return! Brutis loves other dogs, and would be a great match with a playful doggie sibling. Sometimes Brutis tries to be a little mischievous, but he'll tire himself out and then snuggle up for a long nap! He's really just a happy boy!

Mirabella is a 3 1/2 year old Shepherd/Cattle dog mix who  loves people and wants nothing more than to climb in their lap! (Even though she forgets that she's 63 pounds.) She loves people, and loves showering them with kisses even more! Mirabella is very playful and enjoys her toys very much. She also enjoys going on walks and will stay at your side the entire time. She knows some commands like "sit" and "go to your bed" and we are confident she can learn more. She's really just looking for a new best friend!

Lily Lamb is a 10-month-old girl who is a complete puppy at heart! She loves belly rubs, lots of petting, and playing with toys - squeaky toys are her favorite! She is very energetic and loves to run in the park or go for long walks. She likes to roll around in the grass and spend time outdoors. She would make a great hiking partner, or good company for a long walk on the beach. She knows basic commands and is eager learn more.

Gary Busey is a 1 1/2 year old possible Jack Russell Terrier/Corgi mix. He is eager to please, and will work for treats. He is very athletic, and can jump a few feet in the air(!) and might be a great candidate for some agility training. He loves to play and is absolutely obsessed with tennis balls. He is a total goofball who will entertain you for hours on end with his antics!

(Plus...his name is Gary Busey! Come on!)
