Alleged dollar store shoplifter tries outrunning Lakewood Police
A Toms River man ignites a police chase on foot in Lakewood Sunday afternoon around 1:15 pm he after allegedly shoplifted a woman's wallet and some costume jewelry from 'Dollar Products & More' at 208 Clifton Avenue, according to spokesman LTPD Captain Gregory Staffordsmith.
Lakewood Police spotted 48-year old Mark Spakowski along the 500 block of Clifton Avenue and when Officer Zachary Hart left his car, the suspect fled on foot.
After a brief chase, Spakowski was arrested without incident and the proceeds he allegedly stole, worth about $20.00, were seized.
Spakowski was transported to headquarters by Officer Justin Pederson.
He was charged with Obstruction of Law as well as Shoplifting before being released on his own recognizance a short time later.
