Anonymous Brick, NJ Woman Sold Her Eggs To Pay For College, Should She Tell Her Fiancé?
On the morning show, we asked you the question "what have you hidden from your spouse" and we were expecting some pretty lighthearted answers. For example, I never tell my husband when I'm getting a pedicure. I just don't want to hear the "oh must be nice to treat yourself" routine so say I'm "doing errands" which is code for getting me time. The responses we got back from you were a lot deeper. One, in particular, drew me right in, a listener who will be known as "Anonymous in Brick" reached out to me with hers and it was way personal.
"Anonymous" confided in me that in an effort to put herself through college without piling up massive student debt, she decided to sell her eggs (numerous times). She felt good about the fact that this would help other families live their dream of having children and she was helping her financial future as well. Mentally, she was able to leave what she did back in college. Fast forward to years later, now she is an engaged woman. When we asked the question about "what you are hiding from your significant other" on the air, it got her thinking about this part of her life again. "Anonymous" never felt guilty about that decision before BUT now as an adult, she is grasping with the concept for the first time that she may have biological children out there (many of them) and she has no idea how her fiance is going to react.
Does "Anonymous" owe it to her fiance to tell him even though she did not even know him at the time? If she does tell him, what should she say? Has anyone been through this before? You all have been giving her great advice and she truly appreciates it. Feel free to send more comments my way at Shannon@943thepoint.com and I will make sure she gets your feedback.
I've been in contact with "Anonymous" for moral support and to pass along your wisdom. She is leaning toward telling her husband and when she does she said she would give us an update. Fingers crossed it goes well. The more she waits, the more nervous she is getting. I just want to thank her for coming to us for help and support. You got this "Anonymous"! In case you missed it, here's the audio from her call into the morning show and yes, we expect a follow up this week:
