The legendary city of Asbury Park has a storied history full of amazing facts and memories and we're going to take a look at some of the important dates in the city's history.

As we broadcast from the boardwalk in Asbury, I can't help but think of all the unbelievable things that happened at the very place we're sitting at today. Here's a look at some key dates in Asbury Park's history.

1871 Asbury Park was founded by James A. Bradley and named after Francis Asbury, who was the first bishop of the Methodist Episcopal Church in the U.S.A.

1880 Tilly arrives along with George C. Tilyou and his Steeplechase amusements right on Ocean Ave.

1888 The famous Palace Merry Go Round was installed at Lake and Kingsley.

1929 The current Convention Hall and Casino building appeared

When you think about it, these were an amazing 6 decades in the history of Asbury Park and paved the way for the amazing city we are now so lucky to broadcast from each week. knowing some of the story just makes me love it even more.
