The Asbury Park Skate Foundation is set to host an autism friendly skateboard clinic this month.

The clinic will take place from noon to 2 p.m. Sept. 25 at the Asbury Park Carousel.

The Askate Foundation is an organization that organizes autism friendly skateboard clinic environments to teach the basic skills of skateboarding, according to the website.

"Skateboarding is so much more than just skateboarding when we introduce it to kids on the spectrum. They are working on skills similar to that found in Occupational Therapy and they don't even know it," writes Crys Worley on the website."Skateboarding helps us work with the kids on vestibular, proprioceptive, and motor skills as well as social skills. It's more than just a 'fun day at the skatepark.'"

The clinic is free. The Asbury Park Carousel is located at 700 Ocean Avenue, Asbury Park. To register, look online at askate.org.
