Important Reminder About Bathing Suits For New Jersey Residents & Visitors
Do you have that Summer wardrobe ready to go?
Or is it still tucked away in the back of your closet because the thought of bathing suit season scares the crap out of you?
If you haven't even touched that bin of skimpy clothes, I am right there with you.
Yesterday, I decided to put on my big girl pants and open up about some of my struggles I am having 5-months post op.
One of those struggles has to do with my body, my figure, my weight and everything in-between.
I mean, it makes sense.
I have not been able to use my body in its entirety since June of 2021 so it wouldn't look the same as it has in past Summers.
But other beachgoers or boardwalk patrons don't know that.
Of course peoples' stares while I'm in a bathing suit bothers me.
This is especially true when there is a judgmental facial expression that comes right along with it.
I've been called a, "Fat b***h," laughed at, pointed at and I know I am far from the only person who has experienced this.
So let me remind you of a very important rule to live by this Summer - and all year round for that matter.
Our Bodies Aint Yo Business & Body Shaming Is SO Not The Vibe!
Don't love the way we look in a bathing suit? Don't look.
Bothered by what I am wearing that much? Maybe you should ask yourself why.
There is an unrealistic standard set for women so no, what you are seeing in magazines or on the Kardashians' Instagram is not reality.
You want to know what is important? Being healthy and that does not always mean being a size 00.
The culture around this topic is changing and more and more celebrities are talking about body shaming and how it is not acceptable.
Here are just a few:
- 1
Camila Cabello
Camila Cabello opened up about one of the worst trips to the beach she's ever had. She knew paparazzi would photograph her and that they might have some unkind things to say when they saw her in a bikini.
See her heartfelt post HERE.
- 2
Selena Gomez
Selena Gomez recently posted a video of herself with a special message to those who have something to say about her weight:
- 3
Jonah Hill
Jonah Hill requested that fans do not comment on his appearance at all - whether their opinions were bad or good.
The actor explained that he had been called fat, gross and unattractive for years and the comments were negatively impacting his mental health.

Gigi Hadid
When people consistently called Gigi "too skinny," she responded with a message addressing the issue.
Here is what she wrote according to MSN.com:
"For those of you so determined to come up [with] why my body has changed over the years, you may not know that when I started @ 17 I was not yet diagnosed w/Hashimoto’s disease; those of u who called me 'too big for the industry' were seeing inflammation & water retention due to that," she wrote.
“Over the last few years I’ve been properly medicated to help symptoms including those, as well as extreme fatigue, metabolism issues, body’s ability to retain heat, etc...I was also part of a holistic medical trial that helped my thyroid levels balance out.”

Lizzo
Lizzo is known for being vocal towards those who judge her or make mean comments.
She, unfortunately, has had to address body shamers many times but one of the most noteworthy is when she told the world, "I'm not working out to have your ideal body type."
