This story begins with the two-year-old baby named Charlotte.

She was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a rare type of cancer found in young children and has since endured five rounds of chemotherapy, surgery on her abdomen to remove the tumor and received multiple blood transfusions through the course of her treatment.

Now Charlotte still has a long way to go to recovery but here is where the story brightens up a bit.

Charlotte's family is looking to say thank you for all of the generous blood donations that in essence, saved their daughters life by asking everyone to donate blood at tomorrow's blood drive to ensure that blood available for other patients just like Charlotte.

Keep in mind: that donated blood is perishable so the supply must constantly be replenished.

The blood drive is being held Wednesday, September 18th starting at 11:00 AM.

The drive is taking place at the Point Pleasant Moose Lodge which is located at 706 River Ave in Point Pleasant Borough.

It only takes one hour to donate and one single donation can save MULTIPLE lives.

To put the need for blood into perspective: it is estimated that approximately 2,000 donations are needed EACH DAY in New York and New Jersey alone.

So whether it be for baby Charlotte, Charlotte's family, or someone that you know who benefited from a drive such as these, get out there and donate!
