Do Simple Prizes Count Anymore?

I got myself a package of Cracker Jacks for the first time in forever...and I totally forgot about the prize at the bottom.

It brought a smile to my face to know that this simple little prize still exists (the company has actually given away over 23 billion prizes)....even though it probably means so little that I'd bet some kids don't even bother to open it.

I really used to look forward to getting a little tattoo or sticker or tiny plastic whosie-whatsit that couldn't possibly be worth more than 25 cents.

So this time I saved my little paper prize for my son to open, explaining to him how cute these little prizes used to be and telling him to open it carefully to see what's inside.

After he rolled his eyes and saw the parrot sticker...he looked at me like I had two heads. Apparently if you're not getting an i-Tunes gift card or CASH inside a prize package, and you're a ten year old boy whose video game was just interrupted to reminisce with Mom, it's just not worth the effort.

I did learn though, upon further inspection, that Cracker Jacks has indeed come into the modern world. Now you can download authentic Cracker Jack prizes to your smartphone!

And, by the way, they may have been around since 1893 but they still taste just like you remember!
