Fans of Brian Kirk and the Jirks have a reason to smile, as plans are moving forward to restore Sea Bright's beloved club, Donovan's Reef, to its former glory.

Construction is in the beginning stages, as workers began delivering pilings to where the new elevated building will sit.  The new club should be finished in ten months, just in time for a spring opening, according to NJ.com.

Donovan's was destroyed when Hurricane Sandy devastated much of the Jersey Shore in 2012, and it took the owners years to secure funding to rebuild the club.

In the meantime, the local planning board will be asked to approve the tiki bar that was opened on the beach last season, said acting borough administrator Joseph Verruni.

Donovan's was a popular hang for years in Sea Bright, attracting famous rockers Bruce Springsteen and Jon Bon Jovi as they joined Kirk and his band of merry men--who entertained patrons every Sunday afternoon- on stage for a jam.
