Monmouth County will have its DWI task force conducting a checkpoint in Neptune City Friday night from 10 p.m. to Saturday morning until 2 a.m.

Officers will be randomly pulling vehicles over on Route 35 north. Upon being pulled over, vehicles will pull into the parking lot of Sunoco. At that time, drivers will undergo a sobriety test.

It is important to remember that even if you are sober and get pulled over during one of these checkpoint stops, you may still be summoned for other motor vehicle violations.

It's worth repeating that officers DO NOT need probable cause to stop you if there is a DWI checkpoint set up. An easy way to avoid tickets or worse is to not drink and drive and cooperate if pulled over.

The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office heads up the DWI task force with the help of the Monmouth County Chiefs of Police Association.
