So, have you heard about some of the schedule changes being made in Asbury Park?

Listen to Nicole Murray middays on 94.3 The Point and download our free 94.3 The Point app.

Let me update you.

The first is in regards to Melissa Ethridge who was supposed to perform in Convention Hall on October 24th, 2021.

Well this show has been postponed -- and yes, again -- to June 13, 2022 and will now take place at the Count Basie Theater in Red Bank.

I know...OY!

But I am sure it will be well worth the wait.

There are also come changes with the Kevin Smith event that was originally set to take place on November 6th, 2021 at the Paramount Theater.

Sorry to tell you but the date and location of this event is also being changed. The Kevin Smith event is now being held at the Count Basie Center's Hackensack  Meridian Health Theater on November 4th, 2021.

And man, the concert for Bad Religion and Alkaline Trio that was supposed to take place on Halloween at Convention Hall has been cancelled all together.

Why all the cancellations and postponements?

Buckle up because I have bad news about the Paramount Theatre and Convention Hall in Asbury Park.

Performances and shows are at these venues are canceled until further notice due to safety concerns.

"Both the Paramount Theatre and Convention Hall ballroom have been deemed unsafe for human occupancy," according to APP.com.

YOWZA.

There is a small silver lining that comes with this news: "The bathrooms, shops and restaurants located in the Grand Arcade, the enclosed section of the Asbury Park boardwalk that joins the Paramount Theatre and Convention Hall, are safe," and will remain open until further notice.

When it comes to these closures, I have a feeling this issue isn't going away anytime soon because the town is not going to mess around when it comes to the safety of its residents and visitors.

It sounds like the issue revolves around a large tarp that is hung on the ceiling of Paramount Theatre. It was put there to catch any leaks.

So what is being done about all this?

According to APP.com, the town is, "in the process of completing repairs recommended by its engineer's report," but we don't know what specific repairs are being done.

We do, however, know that five construction permits have been granted for the work at Convention Hall.

Here they are:

Here Are The 5 Construction Permits Passed For Convention Hall In Asbury Park

Any idea what they could be working on?

Based on these permits, I would guess a lot of the repairs have to do with fixing that ceiling with leakages.

For now, all events, performances and shows at Convention Hall and Paramount Theater in Asbury Park are cancelled or postponed for the time being.

Weird though...all these events just started getting cancelled last week but I am guessing Asbury Park's officials were trying to hold off on cancelling events until they absolutely had to.

Sorry...but rather you have all the information now rather than showing up for a concert that is not going to happen.

As updates come through on this, I will let you know.
