We are very lucky to have a state, New Jersey, that has a ton of history 📜 We were part of the original 13 colonies and our history is everywhere, including here at the Jersey Shore. By the way, I digress....I consider all of Ocean and Monmouth County as part of the “Jersey Shore” along with Atlantic, Cape May and even sections of Burlington as part of the Shore. Back to our conversation, we have history everywhere and I love visiting and bringing it to you. The COVID 19 Pandemic has limited indoor access, but it's easy to visit and see the grounds and buildings that make up our history in New Jersey. The hall will be open to visit May through September.

This trip we found ourselves in Monmouth County in Middletown where I found Marlpit Hall. I was not familiar with this historic site, but was able to get some great pics of the building circa 1756.

Marlpit Hall  is part of the Monmouth County Historical Association  and is part of 5 historic homes here in Monmouth County. Marlpit Hall differs from the other four homes because it was the home of a loyalist family, while the other four were patriots’ homes. It's one of the oldest surviving homes in New Jersey with the first construction (kitchen) beginning in 1686. Marlpit Hall was greatly expanded in 1756.

Marlpit Hall is part of the Middletown Village Historic District, which is listed on the New Jersey State and National Register of Historic Places.
