We're so excited to share the latest update from Megan and Adam, the family who was chosen to receive free fertility treatments from Reproductive Medicine Associates (RMA) New Jersey through our Gift of Family giveaway.

It's easy to see why Megan keeps saying 2023 will be their year: She and Adam have four chromosomally normal frozen embryos that went through genetic testing and are looking forward to their first embryo transfer in February.

It's been a long road to get to this point. Megan applied for our Gift of Family giveaway after losing a 9-week pregnancy, later learning their loss was due to a chromosomal disorder. Megan's body doesn't ovulate naturally, and they had exhausted all the IUI (artificial insemination) cycles her insurance would cover. In vitro fertilization (IVF) was their next step.

We're so pleased we were able to connect her, through our Gift of Family giveaway, with RMA New Jersey. Their doctors are leaders in their field, both with the medical aspects of fertility treatment and the support they give their clients. (If you're curious about the IVF process, read RMA New Jersey's overview here.)

She shared this photo with us from her egg retrieval, an outpatient procedure that was scheduled after she took medications for a few weeks in preparation:

They were able to retrieve many eggs, and a good number were fertilized. Four were tested for chromosome imbalances, also known as preimplantation genetic testing for aneuploidy or PGT-A, and then frozen.

Surely you can imagine Megan and Adam's elation when they learned all four embryos were genetically normal. She said her favorite part of the whole process so far is getting that call about the genetic results — which also is when they learned that two of the embryos are girls and two are boys.

"Seeing my husband get excited is something that just brings me so much joy, and we’re so much closer to our end goal," Megan said. "We become such a strong team when we’re active in cycles, and I couldn’t ask for a better support system."

Along the way, she's credited the RMA New Jersey staff with providing excellent care and communication. If you or a loved one has watched the calendar for longer than 6-12 months, but you’re still not getting pregnant, RMA New Jersey can help; visit rmanetwork.com or call 973-656-2089.
