Giant Horseshoe Crab Scupture Destroyed in Mishap
The giant horseshoe crab sculpture is reportedly destroyed on the ocean floor during efforts to submerge it Thursday. The Ocean City Patch reports that a support strap snapped while 3 miles off the coast of Ocean City nearly sinking the two barges on which it was welded. Marine Biologist and sculptor Chris Wojcik is said to be devastated as the mishap destroyed over a year’s worth of work.
The 47-foot sculpture was expected to be listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the World’s Largest underwater sculpture.
