Rejoice, Shore area residents! MTV has confirmed that the upcoming sixth season of its popular reality show Jersey Shore will be the last of the series, Perez Hilton reports.

The show, which followed rambunctious, self-proclaimed "guidos" through several years of misadventures in Seaside Heights, has made household names out of the likes of Snooki, JWoww and The Situation and earned its cast members millions.

While the show garnered astronomical ratings and created what can only be described as a cultural phenomenon, there was backlash locally, as residents often decried the show for what they felt was an unfair portrayal of the real Jersey Shore.

While the flagship series will go off the air, the spinoffs will continue. Snooki and JWoww are filming the second season of their eponymous show in Manchester Township and all signs point to another season of The Pauly D Project.

Season six of Jersey Shore will premiere on October 4.
