There’s this one burger joint that people just can’t stop talking about. West Coasters swear by it like it’s a rite of passage. You’ll hear things like, “You haven’t lived until you’ve had one,” or “I flew across the country and made it my first stop.” It’s fast food, sure, but somehow it’s got this cult following.

The menu’s simple. Classic burgers, fries, shakes, nothing fancy. But everything tastes like it was made five minutes ago in someone’s backyard. And that’s kind of the point. They don’t do freezers. No microwaves. No heat lamps. Just fresh ingredients, made to order. That’s a big reason why you haven’t seen them popping up on every corner across the country. They grow slowly and only on their terms.

For years, it was a California thing. Then it started showing up in Nevada, Arizona, Texas, and Colorado. But recently, there’s been talk about a big move to Tennessee by 2026. That’s major. It means they’re finally creeping east, and people on this side of the country are starting to wonder: could it actually happen here?

Of course, we're talking about In-N-Out Burger. Here in New Jersey, you've probably asked why not bring In-N-Out to the East Coast?  And the answer is a little frustrating. They build everything themselves, including their own distribution centers, and they don’t open a restaurant unless they can guarantee the same quality. New Jersey’s just too far from their current setup. It’s not about snubbing the East Coast. It’s about keeping things consistent. You've got to respect that.

The Street is reporting that In-N-Out is opening the following locations:

  • Surprise, Arizona: 16440 W. Cactus Road
  • Indio, California: 82177 Ave. 42
  • Modesto, California: 3401 Oakdale Rd.
  • Monrovia, California: 560 W. Huntington Dr.
  • Sylmar, California: 13864 Foothill Blvd.
  • Brighton, Colorado: 3860 Eagle Blvd.
  • Ridgefield, Washington: 5801 Pioneer Canyon Dr.

So while the Eastward expansion is real, it’s happening at a crawl. Maybe one day you’ll finally see that red-and-white logo off the Parkway. But until then, we’ll just have to keep dreaming about it or booking flights. Because let’s face it, when In-N-Out finally shows up in Jersey, the line’s gonna stretch past the tollbooths.
