Former Phils Manager Charlie Manuel Thanks Fans For Support

Here is some really good news. Just days after suffering a stroke, the former championship manager of the Philadelphia Phillies Charlie Manuel reached out to thank fans Tuesday on social media.

I want to thank all the people who are pulling for me. I am touched that you are showing me love. And I want to thank @LKLDRegional Critical Care team for hustling and being on time. You have kept me in the game. Charlie Manuel

Manuel suffered a stroke while undergoing a medical procedure in Florida on Saturday.

Manuel, 79, won the World Series with the Phillies in 2008 and is the winningest manager in franchise history.

Tuesday's message on X, formally Twitter, was the latest encouraging sign in his recovery process. To start, he was moved out of the ICU on Sunday, a huge step for stroke patients.

It's been reported that Manuel has been awake and talking. He's been spending time watching the Phillies on TV, reading the numerous texts that had been sent to his phone, and listening to recorded messages from some of his former players, including Chase Utley, Brad Lidge, Jimmy Rollins and others.

Now, he is offering Phillies fans and his caregivers thanks in his own words. Keep it up, Charlie!
