I'm loving it here on the morning show with Lou on 94.3 The Point!  I have to say this is a natural fit because I am Jersey through and through.  I've moved all over the country for radio and while it was interesting to see how others live in the South, the Midwest and other places, it feels really good to just be in my natural habitat. It may be cliche, but I rock hoop earrings and cheetah print and I'm proud of it.  Now that I'm back home, Lou is making sure my Jersey is as strong as ever. You might have heard the Jersey Quizzes on air (all of which I passed with flying colors BTW).  However, I could be thrown a curveball at any moment, so I decided to study up on some random Jersey facts...shhh...don't tell Lou!

I wanted to share my Jeopardy-style research with you so we're all on top of our Jersey trivia game. In case you need some brushing or you just want some bragging rights ready, here are some cool Jersey facts from www.onlyinyourstate.com and beyond:

*Atlantic City is home to the longest boardwalk in the world
*The New York Yankees used to hold their spring training in Asbury Park instead of Florida

*Wildwood beaches are actually getting bigger every year because of sand deposits from northern beaches, they grow anywhere from 10-20 feet per year!

*Sandy Hook is home to New Jersey's only legal nude beach

*The street names in the Monopoly board game are named after actual streets in Atlantic City

*Salt water taffy's origins can be traced back to Atlantic City in 1883

*The state seashell is the knobbed whelk, it is found on all beaches and bays of New Jersey

OK, I feel prepared. Have some other New Jersey pride facts you want to arm me with? Email me at Shannon.Holly@943thepoint.com
