Just How Cold Did It Get Yesterday At The Jersey Shore?
No one needs to tell you that it was bitter cold at the Jersey Shore yesterday, but you might be surprised just how cold it was.
We got some official numbers from some weather stations in Jersey Shore towns at njweather.org, and we wanted to share some brutally cold highs and lows with you. You may need a hat and scarf just to read this.
Here is a sample of some of the high/low stats during the coldest day of the year so far at the Jersey Shore. Data is for 1/21/19.
Holmdel. The temperature peaked at only 15 degrees and the low was registered at 4 degrees.
Point Pleasant. It was a little bit warmer right at the Shore, with Point coming in with a high of only 17 and a low of 9 but there was a maximum wind or 45mph.
Wall Township. It was similarly cold in Wall with the high/low there being 16/6, and a maximum wind of 27mph.
Sea Girt. How cold was it in Sea Girt? Well, yesterday's high was 16 degrees and the low mark for the day was 8 degrees, and the maximum wind registered at 47.
Toms River. Toms River get the title as "warmest" spot at the Jersey Shore with a high of 18 and a low of 9.
And of course, the temperatures and wind speeds only told part of yesterday's weather story. That wind chill was the most brutal part of the day. But if you're looking for some good news, you will be able to find it.
