During my last Pay It Forward campaign over a year ago, Lunch Break Director of Development Kate McMahon toured me through the facility and spoke about their plans of expansion. The only thing they needed was more funding. Luckily, they got their wish.

An anonymous donor gifted the non-profit with $1 million.

Lunch Break is a Red Bank borough pantry, soup kitchen and basic-needs charity. 750 families are served monthly and over 250,000 people have been served in the past five years. When I sat down with Kate McMahon and some of the staff, I marveled at the organization and their sense of community.

Volunteers worked the food line, while others prepped food in the back. I would find even more folks stocking the pantry shelves and putting together care packages.

What was even more special was talking to the volunteers who were once dependent on Lunch Break, who know volunteer their time to pay it forward.

With the massive seven figure donation, Lunch Break is 80% on the way to building a 6,300-square-foot, three-story building to serve even more of Monmouth County.

Having spent an afternoon with Lunch Break, I fully support the organization and its volunteers.
