Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a prevalent disease and some have had to travel far to get to specialists. So it is great to finally get a center here at the Jersey Shore.

Jersey Shore University Medical Center (JSUMC) has opened an MS Center and welcomes Dr. David Duncan, who has been providing MS patients with evidence-based, compassionate care for over 20 years. He will direct the new MS Center at JSUMC.

Hackensack Meridian Health's JSUMC opened the new MS center recently as part of their Neuroscience Institute to provide patients with comprehensive care to improve symptoms, optimize their ability to function in their professional and personal lives, reduce pain, and improve quality of life.

Dr. Duncan will lead a team of specialists in combating this complex, unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system that disrupts the flow of information in the brain, optic nerves and spinal cord.

Nearly one million Americans are currently living with MS, which can affect a patient's health in varying degrees including mobility, vision, reasoning, memory, pain, mood, and more.

So it is wonderful to have a comprehensive center with multiple experts on hand who can address each area of concert individually for MS patients, whether physical, cognitive or emotional in nature.

The Neuroscience program at JSUMC will also focus on other neurological illnesses including epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's and dementia, headaches, and ALS.
