Michael Langsner of Brick was operating a successful DJ company when COVID-19 hit, and business came to a halt.

Michael said he could've sat at home waiting for events to be permitted again,  collecting unemployment, or do something. Boy did he do something.

That something would be opening a brand new ice cream and sweet shop in the middle of a pandemic. Michael would also open this business in the highly competitive town of Pt. Pleasant.

He chose to open Haven Sweet Shop at 512 Bay Avenue because his parents lived in Point Pleasant for about 15 years, and he grew up enjoying the boardwalk and restaurants there. Now as a young dad, he and his wife Amy enjoy bringing their five-year-old daughter Haven to Point Pleasant.

From chocolate covered pretzels to fudge to vegan options, Haven's has an option for every sweet tooth.

The coolest feature at Haven's is their ice cream flight – a four-scoop tasting box with separate compartments for each flavor and topping.

Langsner said,

This project has been an absolute refresher. In the crazy times we are living in, one thing seems to remain the same…chocolates and ice cream make happy people. Our goal is to be family-friendly, to know our customers on a first-name basis, and to know their favorite flavors. Even though employees and guests need to wear face masks, it is obvious that the locals and visitors are smiling in excitement!

Haven's is open Tuesday through Thursday and Sunday, from 1:00 to 9:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, from 1:00 to 10:00 p.m. Check out havenssweetshop on social.
