If You Hate Creepy Bugs You Might Not Like New Jersey’s Pest Ranking
We live in New Jersey. There are a lot of things that bug us, and yes, bugs are among those things, as well as rodents. So how does New Jersey rank against the rest of the states in the nation when it comes to bugs?
We are not talking just about mosquitoes and nats here. We are talking about the bugs and rodents we don't like to talk about. It's rats and cockroaches in the spotlight this time around.
The pest control site Excel releases rankings for each state in America regarding the [population of these pests, and you might be surprised at where New Jersey ranks.
And the good news is that this is the type of surprise you'd welcome, like a birthday party type of surprise.
It turns out that when it comes to rats, we do not even make the top ten. Two of our neighbors do though, with New York ranking #5 and Pennsylvania landing at the #2 spot.
And what about cockroaches? Here's more good news. We here in New Jersey, along with our neighbors in Pennsylvania and New York, managed to avoid the top 10. New Jersey actually ranks at #27.
This is also a really pleasant surprise. The Garden State did not show up in the top 10 for mosquitoes either, but there was one bug category that we did place in the top 10, and it's not a good one.
New Jersey does land in the #9 spots when it comes to ticks. That makes us all want to put on some long pants and tuck them in our socks.
It's the one thing about summer we wouldn't mind passing on. All those darn bugs.
