Is New Jersey Among The Most Lucky Lottery States In America?
Every time we buy a Powerball ticket here in the Garden State, our wheels start turning and the dreams start to flow.
One of the big attractions of the lottery is that it gives you an excuse to dream big and lose yourself in a little financial fantasy. After all, if you bought a ticket, you actually could win.
For me, my dreams immediately take me to Route 35 in Mantoloking, where I would immediately take my winnings and buy one of those breathtaking oceanfront mansions.
I think Route 35 is actually called Ocean Ave. there. I'd know for sure if I could just hit Powerball and move in over there.
Speaking of winning Powerball, how is our record here in New Jersey? Are we a lucky Powerball state? We did a little research and have an answer for you.
Actually, the good folks at jackpot.com did the research, and they don't have great news for us, but it's not the worst news you could hear.
If you look at the list of the states with the most Powerball winners, you're going to be looking a little while before you find New Jersey.
We're in a 5-way tie for 11th on the list of states with the most Powerball winners. We've had 11 winners, the same total as California, Kansas, New Hampshire, and Washington D.C.
In the grand scheme of things, ranking 11th is pretty good. But our 11 winners (as of 4/27/22) are no match for some other states.
For instance, Minnesota has had 22 winners and Missouri has had 31, but no other state matches the 39 Powerball wins piled up by Indiana.
That's over 3 times the number of winners in the Garden State, but that's not going to stop us from trying or dreaming.
If I win, everyone is invited to my Mantoloking oceanfront house. Please take your shoes off at the door.
