New Jersey Stars Help U.S. Women To World Cup
New Jersey pride has become a pretty common thing here at the Jersey Shore, and this year’s World Cup was no exception.
Over the years we have grown accustomed to watching one of our own rising to the top of the soccer world time and time again, and those memories are all thanks to one on the most amazing soccer players to ever play the game, Point Pleasant’s own Christie Rampone.
Of course the tournament this year rolled along without the retired megastar, but the New Jersey connection to the World Cup was still very much there in the person of Carly Lloyd, who was born in Delran and Tobin Heath from Basking Ridge..
As America’s Women’s Soccer squad marched their way to championship glory, I couldn’t help but think back to the days of World Cup and Olympic excitement that Christie’s amazing career brought to each and every Jersey Shore resident over the years.
And now Carly and Tobin are continuing in that amazing tradition, and we're all benefiting from it. Thank you and congratulations!
