Nicki Minaj just announced she's officially retiring from music to have a family.

The rapper sent fans into a frenzy on Thursday afternoon (September 5) when she took to Twitter to reveal the big news. "I've decided to retire & have my family," she wrote. "I know you guys are happy now. To my fans, keep reppin me, do it til da death of me, in the box- cuz ain't nobody checkin me. Love you for LIFE."

Though it's unclear how serious Minaj's announcement is or whether she plans on leaving the music industry for good, she did say she was going to marry her boyfriend, Kenneth Petty, soon. In fact, she sparked marriage rumors after she changed her Twitter name to Mrs. Petty last month.

In August, Minaj also appeared on Queen Radio and revealed she and Petty recently renewed their marriage license, adding that they had two months to make it official. “We filed for the marriage license and we still had to pick it up and I was traveling...by the time I came back, we had to renew it again," she explained. "From that time, you have 90 days to get married. That was about a week ago, so now I have about 80 days.”

Interestingly enough, the "Anaconda" hitmaker also said her wedding was only going to happen later this year because she too busy was working on a new album. "We’ll do the big wedding later. I’ll be married before my album comes out but will have my wedding after the album comes out," she said.

So, perhaps fans are going to get one more record before she retires? We'll have to wait and see...
