We’ll always check the milk for an expiration date, or at least give it the smell test.

There are some items however, that often slip under the radar.
Here's a great example. I recently found ketchup in my refrigerator two years past the expiration date.

Country Living did some research and came up with a list of items that are most likely expired, and here are some of them.

Breadcrumbs - they only last six months, and we know how fast 6 months can fly by.
Nuts - Yes, they do go bad. Experts say you should only keep them for about 3 months to a year depending on the type of nut.
Peanut Butter - Unopened peanut butter is good for well over six months, but once you open it the shelf-life is much less.
Brown Rice - That bag of brown rice might be better for you than white rice, but you better eat it within six months.
Crackers - If you only eat crackers during soup or flu season, the ones you have in the pantry now aren’t good anymore. Experts say you should eat crackers sooner rather than later.
We’ll all be inspecting our pantries today. Better safe than sorry.
