Our Classic Car Show Tradition
As a girlie-girl, I never had ANY interest in classic cars. But then I became a mom of two boys and everything changed.
At a very young age, my boys started collecting models of classic cars. And so I felt it was my duty as a mom to bring that to life.
We started a tradition years ago that combined two fun forms of transportation. I'd drive them to the Bradley Beach or Belmar train station to hitch a ride on a NJ Transit train (which, when you have toddler boys is like an amusement park ride in and of itself) and we'd take the ride to the Pt. Beach train station.
From there, we'd stroll up and down Arnold Ave for one of the many classic car shows that they host. The boys would be thrilled to see each car and motorcycle, and we would spend a great afternoon just enjoying the atmosphere of being there, along with the bonus of stopping in some of the stores and eateries and coming home with one or two more model cars for the boys.
This tradition, I am happy to say, will continue this season, with the first of their Classic Car Cruises on Sunday, May 6th, from noon to four pm (rain date May 13th) on Arnold and Bay Avenues in downtown Pt. Pleasant Beach.
Hope to see you there! And be sure to look for live entertainment by our very own DJ Tommy Lynch!
