Popular Manalapan Hot Spot to Reopen After Several Years
New life is being breathed into a once thriving establishment in Manalapan.
Olde Silver Tavern, on Rt. 522, just off Tennent Rd., has been closed since 2009, when a fire damaged the building.
Before that, it was a go-to spot for locals for both the restaurant and bar scene.
The building has been there for more than 90 years, but largely due to the fire damage, will be demolished and rebuilt. The plans have already been approved by the Manalapan Planning Board.
The new Olde Silver Tavern will have outdoor seating and a separate bar area. It's still very early in the process, and no opening date is set.
My family moved to Marlboro when I was a kid, and I remember going to OST all the time, playing the arcade games while waiting for a table. Even as I got older, it became a popular spot to hang out on the weekend.
In fact, I recall one of my last visits there...St. Patrick's Day, 2009:
It's a local institution, and it'll be great to have it back!
