A Jersey Shore town is getting some big-time attention.

Lifestyle website Thrillist chose one town from each state that they considered to be underrated. For New Jersey, Red Bank topped their list.

Take the hair gels, tanning oils, and Jaeger/Red Bulls you associate with "Joisey" and toss that 'ish down the toilet. Garden State locals know Red Bank as a low-key small town with big-city cool. You'll find world-class restaurants alongside tiny seafood shacks. You'll hop from dive bars where the PBRs flow like water to bona fide nightclubs you’ll pump your fists (some Jersey stereotypes remain, happily) to a bustling reggae club. And you’ll do it all quicker than you can say "Bon Jovi is overrated."

Full disclosure, I really dislike the way this website stereotypes New Jersey by using terms like "Joisey" and associating us with hair gel, tanning oil, and Jaeger and Red Bulls. But at least Red Bank was differentiated.

They got the vibe of Red Bank pretty spot on. They describe it as a "low-key small town with big-city cool."

Personally, I like the options in Red Bank. For such a small town, it's awesome that you can enjoy upscale dining, or hang at a dive bar. Usually, the two are within a couple of hundred feet from each other.

Now that I think about it, maybe it's better Red Bank is considered underrated. This way it can be our little secret.

From the arts to parks, to delicious restaurants, Red Bank is a gem at the Jersey Shore.
