Every time we turn around, there is some major construction going on somewhere in the Garden State. You would think that would mean our infrastructure must be improving.

And while the thought that the never ending road construction everywhere you turn in the Garden State, including the weekend construction on the Parkway in Middletown, must be making our infrastructure better, reports say we are still among the worst states in the nation.

Less than a year ago, a CNBC report ranked New Jersey the 5th worst state for infrastructure in the nation.  The report says that an unbelievable 66% of our roads are in mediocre or poor condition.

And that report is not alone in it's findings. Just three years ago, Business Insider ranked New Jersey the 9th worst state for road conditions.

The bad news continues for New Jersey. About a year and a half ago, 24/7 Wall St. did their own rankings and found that we ranked 2nd wort in the nation for worst roads. That's right. Their report says only Rhode Island has worse roads in the whole nation.

This shouldn't come as a surprise to any Garden State resident. I can't tell you how many times I am driving around Monmouth & Ocean Counties cursing in the car because when I'm on a road it feels like I'm off-roading.

And how many times have you rolled your eyes over the traffic caused by all these roadway projects that never seem to get done and according to these reports, apparently aren't  improving our overall road situation?

The road work that's getting the most attention this weekend of course is the work being done on the northbound local lanes of the Garden State Parkway in Middletown that starts tomorrow (Friday) night and will run through the weekend.
