A mangy fox has been reportedly spotted around the Bay Head and Mantoloking areas over the past few weeks and is still managing to evade capture.

The fox has been spotted heading toward Mantoloking and police there are aware of reports of sightings. Experts say if you do encounter the fox do not attempt any type of interaction with it, according to nj.com.

Muskrat Jack, a local animal control officer hopes to capture the fox to get it treated for mange, but cautions that the fox will be very difficult to capture based on his decades of experience.

There were reports over the weekend that a fox had unfortunately been hit by a vehicle. The Mantoloking police confirm that, but can not confirm if it was the specific fox being searched for.
