Seaside Heights man pleads guilty to killing woman at Glendale Motel
A Seaside Heights man has plead guilty to First Degree Aggravated Manslaughter in the 2018 death of Sharon Falcetano at a motel room in the borough, announced Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer.
Matthew DeMartin, 38, of Seaside Heights, plead guilty before the Honorable Wendel E. Daniels, J.S.C. and is scheduled to be sentenced on October 11, 2019.
At the time of sentencing, DeMartin will be subject to N.J.S.A. 2C:43-7.2, No Early Release which requires DeMartin to serve 85% of his sentence.
Prosecutor Billhimer will be seeking 30 years in state prison.
On Friday, August 23, 2018, Seaside Heights Police were summoned to the Glendale Motel for a report of an unresponsive female.
Falcetano was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
After a thorough investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit, Seaside Heights Police Department and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, DeMartin was arrested and charged with killing Falcetano.
During his admission of guilt before the court, DeMartin admitted that he assaulted Falcetano, causing extensive internal injuries and then left her body in the motel room without calling for emergency aid.
Prosecutor Billhimer praised the efforts of all involved including the Seaside Heights Police Department, Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, Detective Lindsay Woodfield of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit, Supervising Assistant Prosecutor Michael Abatemarco and Assistant Prosecutor Alyssa Mandara.
