Luckily, it seems we'll be spared most of the destruction from Hurricane Matthew, and will instead be treated to a kinder side of Mother Nature: the Draconid Meteor Shower.

If skies stay clear enough, our best chance to see some shooting stars will be Friday evening in the hours just after dusk.

We'd also have a better to chance to see the meteors if the moon wasn't giving off any light, but you never know.

This isn't going the kind of meteor shower that constantly produces hundreds of shooting stars per hour, and the Draconids tend to me more "boom or bust." That said, when you do see a few, I think it makes it totally worth it.

Friday, October 7th will be the best day for viewing, so fingers crossed the clouds clear up!
