Study – New Jersey Is Not A Very Happy State
According to a recent study, New Jersey is not a very happy state. As a matter of fact, there are 27 states happier than we are.
It is worth noting that the study was done before these four consecutive March Nor'easters have gotten Garden State residents in an even worse mood. So why is New Jersey so unhappy?
According to the report, at 24/7 Wall St., one of the factors contributing to our lack of happiness is, of course, money. When the study was conducted, 35% of New Jersey residents said they had worried about money in the past 7 days.
Money is not the only factor, however. The study also found that New Jersey adults lack a feeling of purpose, and are less likely to set goals and reach goals than adults in other states.
If we're looking on the bright side, apparently something many New Jersey residents don't do, we are happier than over 20 other states in America. We are less happy, however, than our neighbors in New York which ranked 23rd.
And there is a sense in the Garden State that we generally do poorly in these studies. As a matter of fact, several people I spoke to were pleasantly surprised at our 28th happiest state ranking, and in a way, that says it all.
"New Jersey...happy with 28th"...not exactly a catchy state slogan, right?
