Essential Rules for New Jersey Thanksgiving Guests
If you are fortunate enough to be spending Thanksgiving Day at someone else's house this week, there are rules you can't forget.
Thanksgiving Rules New Jersey Guests Must Remember
There is something special about hosting Thanksgiving. If you love cooking and entertaining, it's like your Super Bowl, but if you don't, having dinner at someone else's home is a huge bonus.
That doesn't mean, however, that you are completely off duty that day. There are responsibilities you must attend to as a good guest.
We didn't mess around with this. We went to the ultimate source, The Food Network, to find out what you are responsible for as a Thanksgiving guest, and the list is not short.
Thanksgiving Guest Etiquette For 2025
According to these experts, there are 7 items on the etiquette list you must perform if you want to be considered a proper guest.

It's a good thing we checked, because we could only think of 5, but some of them are basic niceties that, if you didn't know on your own, you probably didn't deserve to be invited in the first place.
One thing the experts suggest is to make a dish that everyone can eat. If it's gluten-free and vegan, you'll make friends and be a great guest at the same time. And let the host keep the dish. That's two things off the list.
Things Experts Say Good Guests Do These Things
Don't cancel late, thank the host, and offer to clean up; they seem like no-brainers, but they take three spots on the list, leaving only two items you need to do to be a good guest.

One of those things is to bring something, whether the host tells you to or not, and finally, help the host by entertaining the other guests while the meal is being prepared.
Do all these things, and the experts say you're a good guest. Congratulations!
