Felony TikTok Challenge Is Taking Over New Jersey Schools
If you're a parent, by now you've heard at least something about the nationwide gun violence challenge on TikTok. It's horrifying that this is happening, and its hitting close to home for many of us, including my daughter.
Over the past two weeks, at least 11 New Jersey schools got threats of potential gun violence. This new challenge on TikTok is telling kids to make claims that they are aware of a planned school shooting.
This past Wednesday, I was getting alerts on my phone from my daughter's high school saying that a threat had occurred. My daughter had already left for school and came back home because her school was crawling with police officers and she was too afraid to go in. There is supposed to be many more nationwide threats today, Friday Dec 17th.
Remember not too long ago TikTok had the Devious Licks Challenge? That was when kids were intentionally breaking mirrors, stealing soap dispensers, clogging toilets among other things in their school bathrooms and then posting the damage on TikTok? Well, apparently this is the next awful trend.
The New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Protection is all over this one as of right now all the alerts that are coming out state that there are no creditable threats to worry about.
I remember when I was a kid we had "bomb scares" randomly called in by students who wanted a day off school and it seems like this is the new way of doing that. This is all so sickening and is taking up endless resources to rectify. If you have any information, tips or questions you can call The New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Protection at 866 4 SAFE NJ and please talk to your kids about social media and how these trends are absolutely off limits!
