Another amazing first has happened in Toms River.

During a ceremony held at Town Hall earlier this week, Toms River officials collectively raised the rainbow Pride flag to show inclusivity and to also officially kick off the Pride celebrations that are scheduled for downtown this weekend.

“The Pride flag (or rainbow flag) has six colors. Red represents life, orange is for healing, yellow is sunshine, green means nature, blue represents harmony, and purple is spirit. The flag will fly through the month of June to honor Pride Month and commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots in Manhattan,” said township officials.

They did not stop there. At the most recent council meeting, June 22nd has been officially declared as Toms River Pride Day.

It warms my heart to see love, acceptance, and inclusivity making its way across the Jersey Shore.

Keep it up everyone!
