Central Jersey Group IV - Preview

(8) Howell 69, (9) Freehold Twp. 61 - Watch

Senior Zach Emery scored a game-high 26 points on the strength of six three-pointers and the Rebels held on to upend the Patriots and advance to the sectional quarterfinals vs. No. 1 Marlboro with their first ever home NJSIAA Tournament win.

Emery hit four of his three-pointers in the first half and his two in the second half were both big. The first gave Howell a 42-41 lead and the second tied that game, 45-45. After Emery's sixth three, Howell would not trail the rest of the way.

Senior Joe Dupuis added 16 points, including a three-point play that extended Howell's lead to 53-49 with under six minutes to go. Senior Dylan McVeigh finished with 12 points, which included a tiebreaking layup to make it 47-45 to end the third and the final basket of the game to set off the celebration.

Senior Nick Gallo chipped in nine points on three three-pointers, the last of which broke a 47-47 tie and gave Howell the lead for good early in the fourth. Junior Damien Padilla added six points and 13 rebounds before fouling out and made Freehold Township junior Jayden Holmes-Cotter work for his 23 points and also helped saddle him with three fouls by the early minutes of the third quarter.

Senior Ryan Keegan added 10 points for Freehold Township and senior Sean Keegan chipped in nine on three three-pointers.

(7) Trenton 70, (10) Manalapan 63

Senior Gabe Blackwell led four Manalapan players in double-figure scoring with 18 points, but a big third quarter carried the Tornadoes to a first-round win over the Braves.

Senior Mike Cerruto pumped in 16 points, senior Mike Bimonte added 14 and senior Anthony Conforth netted 10 for Manalapan, which trailed, 30-29, at halftime before Trenton won the third quarter, 22-14, to gain separation.

Antwan Bridgett scored a game-high 20 points to lead Trenton, which will travel to No. 2 Monroe for Wednesday's sectional quarterfinal round.

(1) Marlboro 86, (16) Sayreville 50 - Watch

Senior Jon Spatola scored 21 points and the Mustangs steamrolled the Bombers to reach the sectional quarterfinals Wednesday against No. 8 seed and Class A North division rival Howell.

Senior Zack Molod added 16 points, senior Jack Seidler poured in 10 and senior Vincent Spatola netted nine for Marlboro, which got scoring contributions from 11 players one day after winning the Shore Conference Tournament championship on Sunday.

(3) Jackson Memorial 50, (14) Rancocas Valley 33 - Watch

Senior Steven Bado scored 14 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to lead the Jaguars to a round-one win over the Red Devils and into the sectional quarterfinals Wednesday against No. 6 Northern Burlington.

Junior Keith Adame added 11 points, including a fadewaway three-pointer to end the first half and send Jackson Memorial to the break with a 22-15 lead. Junior Charlie Meglio also poured in eight points and junior Samir Padilla contributed six points and six steals in the win.

(4) South Brunswick 61, (13) Middletown South 47 - Watch Live

Yathin Vamula led four South Brunswick players in double-figures with 20 points to lead a second-half charge that carried the Vikings past the Eagles and into the sectional quarterfinals Wednesday vs. No. 12 Montgomery.

Junior Dylan Csik scored 11 points to lead Middletown South, which led, 25-21, at halftime and 39-33 in the third quarter before South Brunswick hit the Eagles with a 16-0 run to seize control of the game.

 

Central Jersey Group II - Preview

(6) Raritan 66, (11) Roselle 59 - Watch

Senior Justin Rivera scored 22 of his 29 points in the second half and the Rockets erased a nine-point halftime deficit to beat the Rams and advance to the sectional quarterfinals Wednesday at No. 3 South River.

Junior Jack O'Leary added 14 points and senior Tyzaya Smith added 10 for Raritan, which trailed 31-22 at halftime after scoring the first eight points of the game.

(1) Rumson-Fair Haven 82, (16) Metuchen 43 - Watch

Senior Geoff Schroeder scored 11 points as 15 different Rumson players scored in a rout of the visiting Bulldogs.

Luke Schorr also cracked double-figures with 10 points, Nick Rigby added nine and senior Scott Gyimesi pitched in seven points and eight rebounds for Rumson, which hosts No. 8 Delaware Valley on Wednesday in the sectional quarterfinals.

(4) Holmdel 67, (13) Middlesex 46 - Watch Live

Sophomore James Vallillo scored 21 points and freshman Evan Romano added 18 as the Hornets put the clamps on the Blue Jays in the second half to run away with a first-round win.

Sophomore Ben Kipnis pitched in nine points for Holmdel, which outscored Middlesex, 35-18 in the second half after entering the second half clinching to a 32-28 lead.

(2) Bound Brook 65, (15) Monmouth 47

Junior Ta'haj Wiggins scored 20 points to go with 12 rebounds and the Falcons took a lead into the second half, but the Crusaders stormed ahead in the second half and closed it out to reach the sectional quarterfinals Wednesday against No. 7 Nottingham.

 

South Jersey Group IV - Preview

(1) Cherry Hill East 73, (16) Toms River North 47

Jalen Holmes went off for 20 points and 21 rebounds to pace the Cougars in a first-round win over the Mariners, which earns Cherry Hill East a quarterfinal match-up with No. 9 Eastern.

Sophomore Micah Ford led Toms River North with 11 points.

(9) Eastern 48, (8) Central 45 - Watch

Noah Payne converted the go-ahead three-point play with six seconds left to cap a 20-point game and the Vikings pulled out a road win over the Golden Eagles in the final seconds.

Junior John Truhan got a clean look from 23 feet as the final seconds ticked away but his attempt came up short. Senior Anthony Musso got the long rebound for Southern, but his desperation attempt just before the buzzer was blocked.

Senior Justin Soranno led Central with 18 points while Truhan and sophomore Brayden Lowden each added nine points on three three-pointer in the loss.

(6) Clearview 68, (11) Southern 57 - Watch Live

Senior Jaden Anthony went off for a career-high 30 points, but his best game was not enough to hold off a furious comeback by the Pioneers in the second half.

Southern stormed out to a 16-point lead in the first half and led, 35-21, at the break before Clearview scored the first 15 points of the third to surge in front.

Carter Bobbitt (24 points) and Anthony Charles (23) combined for 47 points to lead the way for Clearview, which will head to No. 3 Egg Harbor on Wednesday.

Junior Tom Menegus added 10 points and senior Nick Devane poured in nine for Southern.

 

South Jersey Group II - Preview

(5) Manchester 66, (12) Haddon Twp. 33 - Watch

Senior Amari Petty scored 21 points and classmate Savon Myers pitched in 19 to lead Manchester to a rout of the visiting Hawks.

Senior D'Maari Brown also poured in 10 points for Manchester, which will travel to No. 4 Overbrook Wednesday for the sectional quarterfinals.

(10) Cinnaminson 76, (7) Point Boro 62Watch Live

Drew Harvey scored 20 points and hit four of Cinnaminson's 13 three-pointers, which carried the Pirates past the Panthers and into the quarterfinal round on Wednesday at No. 2 Sterling.

Senior Colton MacGlashan led Point Boro with 17 points and junior Noah Knauf poured in 12 in defeat.
