Group Semifinals

At Egg Harbor Twp. High School

Group II

Camden 77, Rumson-Fair Haven 43 - Watch | Preview

Cian Medley scored 20 points to lead a relentless Panthers (29-2) attack that was too much for the Bulldogs (21-4) in the Group II semifinals.

Elijah Perkins scored 10 of his 12 points in the first half and D.J. Wagner poured in eight of his 11 after halftime for Camden.

Seniors Scott Gyimesi and Geoff Schroeder each scored 11 points to lead Rumson, with Gyimesi also grabbing nine rebounds in the loss. The Bulldogs briefly had a lead, jumping out to an 8-4 advantage midway through the first quarter before Camden blasted them with a 23-0 run over the next nine minutes.

Schroeder hit a three-pointer early in the third quarter to cut Camden's lead to 32-20 but the Panther again struck back with a big run -- this time 18-2 -- to stretch the lead to 50-22.

Group IV

Marlboro 49, Lenape 47 - Watch | Preview

Senior Jack Seidler scored 16 of his 24 points in the first half and hit just enough of his free throws down the stretch as the Mustangs (28-2) rallied from an early 13-point deficit to beat the Indians (27-4) and reach the program's first ever Group IV championship game.

Seidler made a pair of free throws to put Marlboro in front, 48-47, with 1:52 left and after missing the front end of a 1-and-1 with 35.7 seconds left, he earned a trip back to the stripe with 14.1 seconds and the score still the same. Marlboro's all-time leading score buried the first one but missed the second, giving Lenape a chance to tie the game or win it with a three-pointer.

The ball ended up in the hands of junior Tekei Clark, who pump-faked a defender and got off a potential game-winning three-pointer, but the shot missed long as time expired.

Marlboro trailed, 25-12, midway through the second quarter before closing the half on a 10-0 run. The Mustangs went up 3-0 early and did not lead again until 2:51 left in the fourth, when senior Jay Ratner scored inside off a pass from Seidler to make it 46-45.

Ratner and senior Zack Molod each scored eight points, with all of Ratner's scoring coming in the second half. Seidler scored 16 of Marlboro's 22 points in the first half while the rest of the team scored six points on 3-for-16 shooting.

Rutgers commit Derek Simpson scored 13 of his 15 points in the second half to lead Lenape while fellow senior Aidan Anderson scored 12 of his 14 in the first half.

Marlboro will head to Rutgers on Sunday for the Group IV championship game against Elizabeth.

Collins finished with a game-high 33 points and his fadeaway in the lane put Rutgers Prep up, 60-59, with 25 seconds left. After an offensive foul on RBC gave the Argonauts the ball back, Collins stepped to the line for two free throws with nine seconds left.

Rutgers Prep opted to foul with a three-point lead and held on to secure the win and earn a trip to Rutgers Saturday for the Non-Public A championship game against North Jersey champion Bergen Catholic.
