We gave you some historical clues about a particular Monmouth County town's police department. Were you able to identify the town?

Sometimes the history of our area can be very interesting and tell the story of how much the place we lived has grown over the years, and this one is no exception. Let's recap the clues we gave you and explain them.

This town’s first Police Chief was formerly a mail deliver and school bus driver who was a lifelong town resident. he was named Chief in 1952. His name was Joseph W. Phillips and he was actually a part time constable for five years before being named Chief, according to holmdelpolice.org.

In the early 60’s the department had a budget of a whopping $3000 and the Chief was working out of his own home. At the time the town in the spotlight only had 3000 residents.

Also in the early 60’s, officers used their own cars and could issue  summons anywhere in “Atlantic Township”. Atlantic Township consisted of this town and Colts Neck.

If you haven't figured it out yet, it's time to reveal the answer. We're talking about the Holmdel Township Police. You can read more about their history at holmdelpolice.org.
