Diane and I were sitting on the deck last night and this HUGE bird swooped right through the backyard. It was so close, I literally jumped out of my chair. As it flew toward a neighbor's tree I realized it was a hawk.

A few minutes later, it was perched on a telephone poll and was drawing a lot of attention. A handful of my neighbors say they've occasionally seen one or two over the past few years, but for me, it was a first.

I know they're pretty common in some areas of the state, but I never knew you could see one over the skies of Point Pleasant.  I'll tell you this much. For a guy who grew up in Staten Island, it was a "Jurassic Park" kind of moment.  If you've seen hawks in your town, let us know which towns in the "comments' section below.
