There are reports that many areas in our area received over 5 inches of rain from last night's storms and it has caused havoc this morning for travelers.

There are reports of over 5 inches of rain in the area, including Brick and Manasquan and that has resulted in road flooding and closures. There are reports of flooding in many towns, including Belmar, and many roadways are affected, including Route 35 Belmar, both directions, between Route 138 and 8th Ave, Route 36 southbound in Middletown, Route 35 north in Lavallette between Washington Ave and Arnold Ave, Cedar Bridge Ave in Lakewood and Arnold Ave in Point Pleasant Beach, just to name a few.

The rain is ending in many spots at this early hour and some of the flooding is subsiding, but certainly not all of it. Bear in mind that many, many roads in Monmouth and Ocean Counties have been affected, especially the ones you know usually flood in a lot less rain than we've had in the past few hours. Please be careful and remember, the earlier you travel today, the more care and patience you'll need.
