One of the most beloved baseball players in the history of the game, and long time New Jersey resident, Yogi Berra, has died at the age of 90.

Yogi was not only one of baseball's most cherished personalities, he was also one of the winningest players in the history of the game.  He was a long time resident of Montclair, and the number of lives he touched can never be counted.

I had the amazing honor of interviewing Yogi a few years at the New Jersey Hall of Fame Red Carpet. As he approached, my heart started beating just a little faster. I was about to speak to a man who leaped off the history pages of America's pastime.

I introduced myself and he smiled and said "Nice to meet you", as if he didn't realize he was one of the most legendary figures in sports history. He was sweet and humble and treated everyone on that red carpet as if they were old friends.

Yogi leaned in to make sure he heard my questions and answered them with that Yogi smile on his face. For a minute I was 8 years old again. This wasn't a guy I was interviewing, He was a cherished baseball card come to life.

I spent only a few minutes with Yogi, but he left an impression that was even bigger than his well deserved reputation, and will last a lifetime for me. Yogi Berra, a true legend in every sense of the word.

Here are some of the most memorable Yogi quotes from the Baseball Almanac...

"I never said most of the things I said."

"It's like deja vu all over again."

"Ninety percent of this game is half mental."

"The game's isn't over until it's over."

"Nobody goes there anymore because it's too crowded."

"When you come to a fork in the road, take it."
