In Monmouth County, there were 148 deaths from heroin and prescription drug overdoses in one year's time alone for 2016. You're invited to a special event this evening with lots of experts discussing ways to Knock Out Opioid Abuse.

Monmouth County residents are invited to join the conversation on the Opioid epidemic. The evening will focus on the issues of prescription drug dependency and heroin abuse and will include local and county law enforcement, government and medical community leaders.

You are encouraged to join the conversation and participate in the meeting to understand the disease of addiction, develop strategies to help protect your family, and get a list of resources to help those in your life who become dependent on prescription drugs or are abusing heroin.

Speakers include Assemblyman Declan O'Scanlon, Victor Almeida of Emergency Medicine at Monmouth Medical Center, Mary Pat Angelini of Preferred Behavioral Health Group, Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher Gramiccioni, and Outpatient Addicitons Manager Ninette Tuerk from Hackensack Meridian Health.

The event takes place this evening, May 23rd, 7 pm - 9 pm, at Middletown High School south, 900 Nut Swamp Road, Middletown. Doors open at 6:30 pm.
