Hurricane Sandy

For many residents of the Jersey Shore who consider themselves lucky in the aftermath of Sandy, things have gotten back to some level of normalcy. The news of the return of some of the residents to the Northern Barrier Island reminds us that it's certainly not the case for everyone.

Years from now, when we look back on the aftermath of Sandy, one of the things that will stand out is just how much the FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties was there for us in an amazing time of need.

As Restore the Shore efforts continue and Seaside continues to rebuild, missing pieces are still being found.

With the help of Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi, Billy Joel and many others, over 50 million dollars was raised at the 12-12-12 concert. But, where has that money gone?

The last few months have certainly given us a lot to think about, and as the New Year approaches, I'm sure those thoughts will shape our New Years resolutions in many ways.

Isabella, Samantha, Alyson, Ava, Caroline and Natalie are 3rd grade students at West Freehold School and after hearing about how devastated Union Beach was after Sandy, they wanted to do something about it, and Toys 4 Smiles was born.

Lucky Leo's arcade is a Seaside Heights staple. This landmark, like many, were nearly devastated by Sandy. It's only been a month and a half since landfall and Lucky's is already back open for fun. The before and after photos are unreal.

The tears are still fresh from Superstorm Sandy and now new ones flow over the victims of Sandy Hook Elementary School. Just when we were beginning to put words to the tragedy of a superstorm, something happens that no words can ever describe. We have seen too much of the unthinkable happening before our eyes.

The silver linings of Superstorm Sandy was getting to meet people who are dedicated to being there for those in need. The great group at Hometown Heroes certainly fits into that category.

I felt so much Jersey pride last night while I was watching the 12-12-12 Sandy Relief Concert. There were so many amazing moments provided by superstars that we are all proud to call our neighbors.

There's going to be a big show tomorrow at Bar A in Lake Como and it's all to help victims of Superstorm Sandy.
