Our Point Pet of the Week was abandoned by her owner and was rescued by the Monmouth County SPCA. Here's what's unusual about her.

It's been determined that one-year-old Merlot, a Terrier mix, is deaf. She has been living in a foster home for a few months now along with several other dogs (including another deaf dog that also came from the MCSPCA.)

Merlot is a sweet, loving, happy dog who deserves a family to call her own. She is working on learning hand signals and already knows 'sit', 'down', 'come', and is working on 'stay' so that she can communicate with her human friends.

This precious, young girl loves treats and likes to show you what she knows. She responds to gentle tough to get her attention and loves to follow her friends around the house and yard to see what they are doing.

This is the perfect dog: Merlot sleeps, eats, and travels in the car in a crate. She is housebroken with no accidents in the home or car and is polite and not destructive in the house. She sleeps through the night and enjoys naps with her friends. She walks and hikes with her foster family using an easy-walk harness. She has lots of energy and stamina and is very athletic.

This gorgeous dog is sweet, friendly, playful, smart, and needs the love and care of her own family. She has so much joy to give.

Since Merlot is currently staying with a foster family, if you are interested in meeting her call the MCSPCA in Eatontown at 732-542-4552 or email adoptions@monmouthcountyspca.org so that they can arrange to have her there when you come in.

And a reminder.....get your dog(s) registered for the annual MCSPCA Dog Walk & Pet Fair coming up on Saturday, April 30th, 10 am - 3 pm, at Brookdale Community College.
