Derek Jeter to Retire After 2014 Season
After 14 years as a New York Yankee, New Jersey's own Derek Jeter has announced he's retiring after the upcoming baseball season.
Derek Jeter released a long statement saying, among other things, 'The one thing I always said to myself was that when baseball started to feel more like a job, it would be time to move forward...The 2014 season will be my last year playing professional baseball.' He also thanked his fans..and those who challenged him.
Jeter has always been the kind of player that you have to respect. Not only is he talented, but he handles himself as well of the field as he does on.
He's not only a consistent player, but a consistent role model. I've seen Jeter play countless times, and he's the kind of player people will remember for years.
Captain of his team, he's won countless awards, earned millions of dollars, and will walk away with the respect of all of his fans.
I'm looking forward to seeing him play again this year, and will proudly wear my Jeter jersey when I do!
